Blocking a contributor on Yo-kai Watch Encyclopedia is to prevent them from editing on the wiki. There are various kinds of reasons why a contributor is banned from the wiki, which can be ranged from vandalism and harassment towards fellow contributors and staff members.

Contributors that are banned from editing the wiki mostly are disagreeing with their punishment and starts rebelling. This can cause an increase of your current ban to a much higher span of your previous span that you already are banned off. Somehow, if things does not work out, the contributor who is banned created a sockpuppet account which they are either vandalizing or anything negative, or editing the articles in a positive fashion. However, creating a sockpuppet account will ban you from the wiki for a very long time. Banning a contributor can be sometimes used as a deterrent, which is to discourage the behavior the contributors has to ban them to encourage a productive editing environment.

Reasons for banning

There are different kinds of reasons to have a contributor banned from the wiki. It can be arranged from vandalizing articles, adding mature content, adding fan theories, adding images that do not belong on this wiki, there are various kinds of reasons. You can also get banned from the wiki if you are adding images from Yo-kai Watch World. This extra is due to the harrasment this wiki will receive from their website while the images Nintendo and Level-5 reveal are public images which everyone can use. However, there can also be personal reasons from staff members that the contributor will be banned from the wiki, which can be to protect the style guide for the wiki and preventing alterings from contributors. So, when editing, do ask a staff member what you can do to help out the wiki.

Request for blocking

A contributor can request a block for another contributor by contacting a staff member of Yo-kai Watch Encyclopedia. This can only be done if the contributor has a good reason why they think the contributor should receive a ban to prevent them from editing on this wiki. However, it will not happen directly, as the contributor will receive a max of three warnings. If the contributor ignore the warnings, they will be banned from the wiki depending how serious the situation actually is, plus extra more months for ignoring the warnings. However, it depends if the contributor has cause serious problems that they can be banned without a warning for a normal set of times to invinite.

However, the contributor that has been banned can composate with a staff member through their talk page and must have a very good reason to revoke their ban from contributing on this wiki. If you are a banned contributor it is highly suggested that you must talk civil to the staff member you are negotiating with. Apologies does not revoke your ban, but will lift some of the time that has been given to you. However, the apology must be serious and not taken as a escape route for you to contribute again on this wiki.

Acceptable reasons for blocking

Here is a list for acceptable reasons for a contrbutor to be banned. These are the reasons a contributor has to request a staff member to have another contributor banned from editing the wiki as they believe they have caused harm.

Personal harassment to another contributor or staff member. Vandalizing a various number of articles. Persistent harrazing another contributor. Spamming articles, contributors, or staff members. If the contributor is acting incivil towards other contributors and staff members. Adding constantly fan art, sensative images or fan theories on the wiki. Edit warring or revert warring. If the contributor is ignoring warnings staff members gave to them.

Creating a false account to boost yourself, which is called sockpuppetry. That the contributor edited without reading the policy first, however, they receive a formal warning. If a contributor have created an account with a very unusual username, such as sexual references. Solving the problem through some other media guide instead of the wiki. Creating love letters to characters or Yo-kai, or even adding sensitive content to characters or Yo-kai.

Staff members can directly ban contributors if they see that they show incivil behaviour, such as not listening to them when they propose something serious to them or asking them to stop with their actions. Here is a guide of the reasons why a staff member bans a contributor.

The contributor do not listen to the proposal of a staff member. Creating a new template article and uses them on the wiki. If they are harassing a staff member to become a sysop at the wiki. If the contributor is asking a staff how they can become sysop at the wiki. If the contributor is performing illegal activities on the wiki. If they are harassing a staff member to unlock an article that has been locked for over a week.

If a contributor acts harsh towards a staff member in a discussion. If the staff member believes that the contributor created an account simply to vandalize. That the contributor uses vulgar language towards the community, even if it is a joke. That the contributor uses racial slurs towards the community or in general, even if it is a joke.

Unacceptable reasons

There can also be unacceptable reasons for blocking a contributor, mostly because of personal vieuw and even for staff members that are abusing their rights unjustfull towards a contributor. Here are some reasons that are unacceptable.

• When a contributor disagrees with a staff member about something the discuss or when a staff member announced something.
• When a contributor uses internet slangs in articles and other contributors, however, slangs are prohibited on this wiki.

Duration of blocking

The duration of a contributors block depends how serious it is what they have committed on Yo-kai Watch Encyclopedia. The regular limitation of a ban should be less than 5 months. However, only if the contributor did something so wrongful they will be blocked invinite. If the contributor has been banned for the first time, it should be short, depending on what they have commited. If their ban has been revoked and they continue their actions, then the ban will be extended for 5 months.
